Lots of fun things to learn and in a DK or Worsted yarn, knits up pretty fast. A practical, fuss free, cowl that goes with everything. We’ve made this two classes so that you can learn to put on a provisional cast on and then learn to unzip it and bind your ends off together seamlessly.

Time:  Two 2-hour classes

Level 4 Pygora: ready to hybridize, able to knit and purl, knit in the round and increase and decrease in knitting

Skills you need (these are essential for everyone to have the best class experience):

  • Cast on
  • Knit
  • Purl
  • Yarn over (yo – increase)
  • Slip stitch

Skills you will learn:

  • Class 1
    • Provisional cast on using crochet hook
    • How to work cross 6 stitch
  • Class 2
    • Unravelling provisionally cast on stitches
    • Grafting garter rows together
    • Fringe

Materials:

  • 2 skeins of DK weight yarn with at total of at least 460 yards, we made ours in Sew Happy Jane’s Delightful DK
    • the pattern calls for worsted weight, 560 yards and also a US 8 needle, which is also a great choice
  • Size 8 needle, circular or straight – if using circular bring 1 additional size 8 straight needle to use with the Cross 6 stitch
  • Crochet hook in size to match yarn for provisional cast on
  • Removable stitch marker to mark right side
  • Blocking pins or wires

Susan Johnson has been knitting since she was a teenager.  She is always looking for projects where a new skill or technique is learned.  In her day job she provides training for a software company.  Teaching knitting classes allows her to combine her training experience with her love of knitting.
