This is an in-person class at Fuzzy Goat! Please review our covid policies below and other class policies before enrolling. Adults only please

Jumpstart your crocheting hobby and learn all of the basics in our two-hour class. You will get started on crocheting your first headband right away!

note: We will teach using your right hand – if you are left handed, most can catch on.

Time: One 2-hour class

Level 1 Nubian: fun and easy, no experience necessary

Skills you need: Absolutely no prior skills are necessary

Skills you’ll learn:

  • chain
  • single crochet
  • crochet through back loop only
  • follow a simple pattern

Materials:

  • 150 yards worsted yarn, wool blend or other natural fiber in a light color. We suggest Manos Algeria Grande, Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool, Farmers Daughter Fibers Squishy Worsted, Emma's Yarns Washable Wool (though Urth Worsted is lovely, because of all its plies it can be challenging when learning. Spud & Chole's Sweater, with its cotton content can also be a challenge)
  • size H crochet hook
  • Spectra pattern, included in the cost of the class
  • Recommendations: For the best early experience we recommend that you do not use cotton or acrylic fibers, or dark colors. Though Urth Worsted is lovely, because of all its plies it can be challenging when learning. Spud & Chole's Sweater, with its cotton content can also be a challenge.

Preparation: A sense of fun!

Be sure to have your supplies purchased and picked up/shipped and your yarn wound into balls before the start of class. You will not need to do anything else, just come ready for fun!

Kit Stroud recently moved to a 62-acre farm in Grady County with her husband and daughter where they have been diligently renovating their farmhouse. Kit's grandmother taught her how to crochet when she was about 10 years old. Kit says; "At my husband’s urging, I revived my crocheting skills a few years ago. In a few short months I went from crocheting uneven, lopsided scarves to creating unique “rag” dolls and animals."
