Madelinetosh and assigned pooling inventor, artist and fellow Texan, Dawn Barker of Barker Wool, joined forces to offer Tosh-style assigned pooling yarns with Barker Wool’s dramatic pattern designs. In keeping with Madelinetosh's ethos to partner with women innovators in the yarn industry. Your order is for one skein.
These limited edition, labor intensive, colors are sold in single skeins of Madelinetosh Twist Light, Fingering weight, 100% Merino, 420 yards and purchase the pattern separately (see some options below). Seated Ballerina is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, a single ply which takes the neon color best, 100% Merino, 420 yards.
Are you familiar with the gorgeous knitting-and-dye technique, assigned pooling (AP)? When you assign different stitches to a bold color change in variegated yarn, it results in fabrics with irresistible dabs of color.
The MT x Barker Wool collection was inspired by the Pop Art movement. The color Marilyn is a tribute to Andy Warhol’s photographic screen-printed portraits of Marilyn Monroe. Seated Ballerina references Pop Artist Jeff Koons’ sculpture of the same name at Rockefeller Center in New York.
Dawn Barker’s new patterns, the Pop shawl (pictured in Marilyn) and the Fizz Cowl (shown in Seated Ballerina), are available on Ravelry. These patterns also apply to Everyday Objects. Calico, Roam, and Glide are also a 2 skein shawl. Or try Annie Baker's Little Buds Shawl. Our Roam sample is in 2 skeins and is 23" deep and 65" wide. The newest is Summerhouse, you could make 2 of the small in one skein! A Murder of Crows is Dawn's sweater and you could add our Madelinetosh Twist Light in Claude to Camille.
