We have a book resource too! Discovering Machine Knitting
Our most surprising find at our recent market trip was Knitting Machines! We learned there are only two companies still making knitting machines. And even those machines made by former companies are still out there working at 50 years old. We talked at length with the vendor and got the names of other shops we could talk to about their experience. The real cherry on the sundae was when we were with our friends Sweet Georgia Yarns, and after picking MANY different bases and colors, we asked Felicia if her color swatches were knit on a knitting machine. Oh my gosh, she is SO enthusiastic about knitting machines! She has a lot of tutorials (that we will be relying on). We liked the idea of being able to knit the beautiful, fun yoke of our sweaters and then use the machine for the less exciting bottom part. If Melissa was on board, then maybe we would give it a go! One of our big questions was: the knitting machine we're looking at creates flat fabric, how would that work for yoked sweater knit in the round? Felicia reassured us that we then hook the front half of your yoke (I'll add a lifeline :) to the machine and knit. We'll need to do a gauge swatch on the machine too to see how to match it to your fabric. We would need to seam up the sides, but with the time saved, we didn't think that was so bad!
And a search on Ravelry for LK150 shows 40+ patterns!
